The Ropes to Getting Cheaper Car Insurance

If you are like a lot of other people, you consider a year without a major auto accident a year that's wasted. No, you're not in some kind of death cult; it's just that when you have an uneventful driving year, you know that the $400 or so that you paid for your car insurance just went to waste. That's just the way people are - they just hate to see things go to waste, even if it is a good thing that it does. If you're so sick of spending on car insurance that you feel like getting yourself into a car crash just so that you know that you aren't spending on insurance for no reason, here's the alternative - cheaper car insurance.A lot of us just know in our hearts that we aren't going to actually need that insurance. We are safe drivers, we don't drive much on the freeways, and we live and work in good neighborhoods. What's the worst that could happen? Well, if you're confident that way, a great way to get cheaper car insurance would be to raise your insurance deductible as far as it will go. The higher your deductible is, the less risk the insurance company takes on on you. And so, they'll charge you a smaller premium. The standard deductible is $250. You don't need to bother with reporting to the insurance company stuff that's trivial. It's really not worth it. Instead, raise your deductible to $1000. Anything under that, and you can take care it of yourself. How about tempting your insurance company with all your business in return for cheaper rates? You need insurance for all kinds of things - your home, your life and so on, and you can offer your insurance company your entire insurance business in return for cheaper car insurance. You could also consider getting a student discount if you're under 25. All you need is a good GPA, and you get that discount. Here's a way to get cheaper car insurance in which you don't even need to go out of your way. How about just paying your entire premium in one lump sum right there when you sign the policy? You usually pay a far smaller price. You can also get a better price by buying direct from the dealer. Buy through a field agent, and usually, that agent's commission is one more thing to worry about.Basically, no matter how expensive your car insurance seems to be, and no matter how much you hate the insurance company you're with, never, ever let your insurance policy just lapse. The next time you pick up some insurance, you'll be treated as an uninsured motorist. And in the car insurance industry, the uninsured motorist is the riskiest bet ever.
